Cheoah River Gorge
Discontinuation of Rafting on the Cheoah
Since 1971 the Wildwater family has proudly served our Guests on a variety of adventures in the US and abroad. Several years ago Wildwater again lead the way as one of a few professional outfitters to be issued a permit on the Cheoah River in western North Carolina. Nine miles of demanding whitewater with an ever changing limited schedule created many operational challenges.
In recent months our team has been meeting to make sure we remain focused on our Guests and high standards of service. Although we believe Wildwater offered the best experience available on the Cheoah, poor facilities and the demands of the Cheoah pulled our best team members away from our Guests that have been loyal Ocoee, Chattooga, Pigeon and Nantahala rafters for untold years. As a result we have decided to discontinue trips on the Cheoah River.
Wildwater is focused on expanding the services available at our four major adventure centers to allow our Guests to experience multiple adventures and unique lodging with ease and confidence. Great memories are made around every bend, at the end of every zipline, camping in the woods or after each rapid. We are sorry to say goodbye to the Cheoah but excited about the lead we have taken in expanding lodging and zipline canopy tour adventures at each of our locations. Section IV of the Chattooga still offers rugged beauty and the most challenging rafting in the Southeast, book your Chattooga Section IV or Chattooga Overnighter today.
